How do I change an alternator in a 2000 caddy escalade.?
I keep reading just remove the belt, undo the bolts and wires remove then put in new and do the reverse. Where is the belt located can I do this from the top of the vehice or does this require me to get on the ground and go in underneath?How do I change an alternator in a 2000 caddy escalade.?You can't do this yourself. Believe me it is not easy for a beginner. Take the truck to your neighborhood mechanic, he will only charge you $50 or so. Before you do, why do you think you need an alternator? so you know how to put it back ?It usually needs Rachet wrenches ,........get new starter and replace. GOOD LUCK

Just remember to disconnect your battery before you decided to jump into this..... somehow Im worried about this situation. It's not all that terribly difficult. The hard part will be getting the belt reinstalled; that may take some extra work. When you get the new alternator, check to see that it is the same as the one you're replacing, then make note of where it is located on the engine. Loosen the bolts, (disconnect the wires first), then slide the old alternator toward the engine. Remove the bolts and remove the alternator from the bracket. To install the new one, simply reverse the process. It's not rocket science, but it does take some work and thought before attempting the job. How to change an alternator on a 1989 Oldsmobile 98 Regency?
Does anybody know how? The original owner didn't even take care of the manual so I don't know how to locate anything in the car it's torn apart :/How to change an alternator on a 1989 Oldsmobile 98 Regency?Disconnect the Negative battery cable.

Remove the bolts the rest of the way, then remove the wires from the alternator. Or remove the wires first, if you can get at them.

I have a saab 900 ems 1989 car, i changed alternator but it still not charge,what else could be wrong?
i have 1989 saab ems, when the charge light is on,the car sudden stoped,RACV people said it was alternator fault,,later i changed alternator,it was second hand one from volvesaab parts,when i put replacement ,i start the car,the charge light is still on,i checked battery, it i was not charged, can anyone who is expert on the saab tell me what else could be wrong? i checked alternator drive belt,i think it is correctly tensioned.

if the meter reads over 13.1 volts then the alternator is good if not then the magnets inside the alternator may be worn down or the alternator coil may be broken.

Does anyone know how to change an Alternator belt for a 1998 Rav4?
I'm at work and my 1998 Rav4's alternator belt just snapped when i got back from lunch. I purchased the belt already but I'm not quite sure how to replace it. I was told there is a Tensioner pulley somewhere that I can turn to release some tension but I'm not sure which one it is. If you have a how-to or diagram or any information please help. There is a diagram usually under your hood for the belt route. but the tensioner pulls back off the the belt so there is slack on the belt so you can pull out the old one and slip in the new one being sure to follow the same route as the old one. The only problem is your going to have to get yourself a wrench to do this.

http://www.amazon.com/Summit-SUM-900035-Does anyone know how to change an Alternator belt for a 1998 Rav4?It requires a serpentine belt tool. first take note of the routing of the belt, raise the car up and remove the shield covering the crank pulley, put a 19mm socket on the tool, find the tensioner toward the top of the engine, put the tool on the fixed tensioner casting (its a 19mm hex cast right into the tensioner) (do this from the bottom) and pull down. this will take the tension off the belt and allow you to slip the belt off the waterpump pulley. let the bar go back up and the whole belt will fall off. replacing is reverse, its tricky the first time......even the second or third. good luck! oh and dont try to drive it to the repair shop if you cant get it back on.....the waterpump wont be working so you'll risk engine damage by overheating, the power steering wont work, the battery wont charge, and as if it matters...the A/C wont work either!
